BG Lambourne

BG Lambourne is the author of The Adventures of Annie Harrison, the antique dealer who hears dead people and The Further Adventures of Annie Harrison. She says…

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, it hasn’t quite sunk in yet that I have actually written a book and can now legitimately call myself an author, just.

The Adventures of Annie Harrison is my first book, and originally was planned to be the only one, but I found I missed Annie, Alice, Faith and Joe, I couldn’t stop thinking about them, so had to start writing a second book which I hope to finish very soon. I wanted to know what would happen to them next and what new stories Annie would discover, I’m just hoping everyone else does too.

Annie and I do have quite a few things in common. We are both in our mid fifties, love antiques, auctions and dogs (although I have four terriers and she has the lovely lurcher Maud), we also both live in Tring, Hertfordshire. A beautiful part of the country best known for its museum, rolling countryside and reservoirs.

I have three grown-up children and a long-suffering second husband of twenty-three years, who all dread the twice monthly local auctions in Tring. ‘What the hell have you bought that for?’ and ‘Where on earth are you going to put that?’ are questions asked quite frequently in my rather cramped Victorian terraced cottage.

Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019 I have taken on the attitude that if there is anything I would like to have ‘a go at’ I need to do it now and writing a book was one of those things. I like knitting socks, but only loud striped ones, embroidery, fabric block printing, watercolour painting and needle felting. I have no idea how the Parkinson’s party will play out, it affects everyone differently apparently, but I fully intend to do what I can for as long as I can and Annie Harrison can always do the things I can’t.
