Bassie Gracie is a punk performance poet who has been performing since 2017. Known for her captivating performances, Gracie has achieved notable success in her career. She is known around festivals and independent venues nationwide.
One of her most prominent accomplishments includes hosting the Greenpeace stage at Glastonbury, showcasing her passion for environmental causes. Gracie has also toured extensively, supporting the folk singer Beans on Toast across 37 dates around the UK and completing her own headline tour in 2024.
In addition to her touring experience, Gracie runs her own poetry nights in Brighton, fostering a vibrant local scene. Gracie is also dedicated to education and community engagement, conducting poetry workshops in schools and collaborating with the English Touring Opera. Following in the footsteps of John Cooper Clarke and Kae Tempest, Gracie makes poetry accessible, engaging and, somehow, a financially viable career path.
As well as her poetry, Gracie is also known for other creative endeavours. She is a prolific musician playing with the festival favourites band Duncan Disorderly and the Scallywags, as well as featuring in the beans on toast band.
She also is a notable DJ regularly playing festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown and Secret Garden Party. Mixing balkan beats with funk, hip hop and electro swing, her mixes move hips and are guaranteed to get crowds dancing. Her recent novel ‘Soap On A Rope’ uses her bohemian lifestyle as inspiration, sharing what she has learnt about being a woman in the music scene to create an insightful, amusing and emotive story.
Soap On A Rope (music/women’s fiction)
Wilbur Morris only cares about one thing: the banjo.
Join her on a journey through the British music scene from the green fields of Glastonbury to the sticky floors of an old mans boozer.
Has she wasted her youth playing folk tunes or is success just around the corner?
The only thing she knows for sure is that beer tastes better when you don’t have to pay for it.
The Fishing Museum (poetry)
A collection of poetry strung together with thoughts, stories and reflections.
