Max Elwood

Max Elwood is the pen name for Danny Edwards, an Essex-based author and journalist whose first novel is Dark Waters.

As a journalist, Danny is the Co-Editor of shots Magazine, which covers the advertising and marketing business in which there are, thankfully, very few murders to inspire his crime fiction writing, but plenty of creative thinking to keep him on his toes.

Danny lives by the sea with his wife and two children and, when he’s not reading, writing or watching his football team lose, he is invariably ferrying one or both of his aforementioned children to or from somewhere.

Dark Waters

Journalist Abraham Hart’s life is unravelling. His wife has left him, his teenage daughter won’t speak to him, and his career is teetering on the brink of ruin. Seeking a clean slate, he returns to his hometown of Southend-on-Sea, but after involving himself in the suspicious death of a young girl, Abraham stumbles headfirst into a web of secrets and shadows.

As he attempts to unravel the twisted threads of deceit, Abraham finds himself pitted against his own family, the authorities, and a criminal underworld that will stop at nothing to protect its secrets.

In his battle for answers Abraham must navigate the pain of his own past and the treacherous waters of the present, but will his quest for redemption become a descent into darkness?
