Phil Oddy

Phil Oddy is an indie sci-fi/fantasy author from North Hertfordshire who writes time travel adventures about flawed, relatable characters trying to navigate impossible situations. His Entanglement series – Echoes, Entrapment, Eclipse, and Enlightenment – has been praised by readers as “a clever story, full of twists and surprises” with “depth and imagination of storytelling that leaves you wanting more”.

The series follows the interconnected lives of characters trapped in the enigmatic city-state of Trinity, where ancient settlement meets technological innovation, and where everyone’s past choices have consequences that echo through time. From Estrel Beck discovering he’s trapped in a time loop via a message on a napkin, to Simeon Lagrange investigating murders while battling his own demons, his books explore what it takes to break free from the patterns that trap us, and whether we can trust ourselves to do it.

Despite a long and successful career as an IT analyst in both the public and private sectors, writing is something he seems unable to prevent himself from doing. By encouraging him, you’re either feeding an addiction or providing therapy… You can pick which. What started as a creative outlet has grown into a thriving indie author career, and Phil regularly appears at Book Events and Comic Cons across the UK. If you meet him at an event, he’ll happily sign your books and chat about time loops, flawed protagonists, and why Trinity is the most dangerous place you’ll never want to leave.

The recordings from the panels that Phil takes part in will appear below. He is scheduled to appear at 10am on the 5th July all-day then in person (Aylesbury, Bucks, England) on 4th October. Now to his books:

Echoes: Estrel Beck doesn’t want to be a software salesman. Yet here he is, newly arrived in the city-state of Trinity, for a make-or-break meeting with the local Administration department. Under-prepared, under-motivated and over-sensitive, every little thing about this strange place seems to stress Estrel out. When he discovers a message scrawled on the back of a napkin, in his own handwriting, telling him he’s trapped in a time loop, he knows for sure that he’s in over his head. Then the Administration building explodes. As Estrel struggles to make sense of his situation and find an escape, he is drawn into Trinity’s bizarre underworld and the struggles for power against Trinity’s corrupt Mayor Chaguartay. Echoes is a story about being trapped by your past choices and what it takes to break free.

Entrapment: Simeon Lagrange is an Oficier in service to Trinity Authority. He’s got a lot on his plate – including a monk who shouldn’t exist, an outsider carrying a mysterious package and an ex-lover seeking justice. Ordered to investigate the shooting of Ralph Manukan, an aide to the unpopular Mayor Chaguartay, Lagrange reluctantly accepts the assignment. But every lead unravels, revealing a city steeped in dysfunction that conspires against him. Soon, Lagrange’s own inner demons, and the weight of his past mistakes, threaten to overshadow his quest for the truth. In the city where past and future collide, every step towards unravelling the present exposes secrets that could reshape destiny.

Eclipse: The eclipse is the beginning. Far out in the Middle Sea, a mysterious man is pulled from the water… In Trinity Citadel, Applicant Lek reluctantly accepts his initiation into the Brotherhood from an inscrutable scribe… Haezle Munoz has uncovered a fatal flaw in the legendary Book of Keyes, but thinks she’s found just the man to help her… And Estrel Beck arrives in Trinity for the first time, but also the third time, determined to set things right… Four events, one familiar face, scattered across time. Together, Estrel and Lek have hatched a desperate plan to save reality, but a darkness is gathering and they’re not prepared for what it will bring. Eclipse is the mind-bending, reality-warping third instalment of the Entanglement series. Get ready, because everything changes when the lights go out.
